<p>Welcome to Alpaca Plain, my range of Alpaca knitwear from socks to cardigans and suits. I am a UK based designer of Alpaca wool clothing and Alpaca knitwear, with 30 years experience of working with textiles and fashion.
Based in Cheshire, my label specialises in designing clothes using a warm yet lighter alternative to lambswool. My range of Peruvian Alpaca wool clothing is suitable for both men and women, with items from waistcoats to suits and blouses covered.
With a following of 11,000 dedicated customers, I have spent over twelve years in the middle of Cheshire developing high quality Alpaca knitwear. This has been seen for sale in craft fairs, fundraising bazaars and agricultural shows throughout the UK.</p>
<p>Why choose Alpaca?
Alpaca hair possesses excellent thermal insulation; in its native environment, during the course of 24 hours, the animal may have to endure snow, hail, rain and night time temperatures as low as -20°C. During the day the rarified mountain atmosphere will allow the temperature to soar to 18°C.
To achieve this miracle in thermal insulation, the Peruvian Alpaca has developed a unique coat whose cell structure is similar to human hair. Unlike wool and cashmere, Alpaca hair is hollow which allows the air trapped inside to expand and contract with temperature variations.</p>
<p>When compared with lambswool, mohair or cashmere, Alpaca wool clothing is lighter and far warmer on a weight by weight basis. This factor alone gives Peruvian Alpaca knitwear superior 'warmth without weight'.
